A natural approach to seasonal allergies

It's almost my favorite time of the year, Spring! I noticed new green blossoms on the trees this morning. As exciting as the new growth is, it also means pollination has begun. That means it also time for itchy eyes, runny noses, sneezing, wheezing and feeling tired.

There are a few helpful, natural remedies that will help you feel better.

Quercetin- A natural extract from plant foods and citrus fruits. It is a flavonol, which is a polyphenol that gives plants their bright colors. Quercetin is a natural anti-histamine without the uncomfortable side effects that come with OTC antihistamines. It calms the immune system to reduce or prevent histamine release. Some Quercetin supplements are combined with Bromelain, an extract found in pineapples which is anti-inflammatory and also calms the immune system.

Quercetin also helps to heal intestinal permeability. Since there is a strong connection with allergies and leaky gut, this makes this supplement that much better! Consider taking 1000mg twice a day. You can find to here.

(Caution for people on blood thinners, this isn't the best supplement for you, check with your doctor.)

Stinging nettle leaf- (not root) Has been shown to make histamine receptors less sensitive. You can read a study here. Used in combination with Quercetin, it is a great antihistamine.

I like to order stinging nettle from here.

Butterbur- an herb that relaxes swollen nasal membranes and alleviates muscle spasms in the respiratory system. A typical therapeutic dose of butterbur extract is about 200mg/day (divided into an AM and PM dose for greater absorption). It can be taken with food to avoid stomach upset or headache. This herb is for tougher allergy cases and is best used only for 2-3 months. You can order here.

Another thing to consider is eliminating dairy. Dairy causes more mucous and can make allergy symptoms worse. It can be inflammatory to some people, leading to intestinal permeability (leaky gut), which adds to the cycle of allergy mayhem!

Healing your gut is vital to a strong immune system. I would love to help with that. Please let me now how I can help. Schedule a free Discovery call.
